Frequently Asked Questions

What is Mandated Reporting and Who is a Mandated Reporter?

Mandated reporting is a law that  requires certain individuals to report suspected cases of abuse.

There are seven groups of mandated reporters as defined by state law (ANCRA, 1975):

     School Personnel

     Medical Personnel

     Social Service and Mental Health
        Personnel

     Law Enforcement Personnel

     Coroner/Medical Examiner Personnel

     Child Care Personnel

     Clergy

Anyone who suspects child abuse or neglect should call the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services Child Abuse Hotline
1-800-25-ABUSE (1-800-252-2873) to make a report, but Mandated Reporters are required by law to do so.

What is our Parish doing?

Recently, the teachers and staff of Queen of the Rosary school participated in Mandated Reporter Training.  The Ministry Center employees are currently in the process of attending the training workshops.

The purpose of this course is to help all Illinois Mandated Reporters understand their critical role in protecting children by recognizing and reporting child abuse.
