Grade 2 Program
The Grade 2 Program at Queen of the Rosary Parish focuses on preparation for the first reception of the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Communion. Key objectives are:
- to realize God’s loving care for us
- to respond to God’s call to give ourselves in loving service to Him and others
- to prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation
- to prepare for the Sacrament of Communion
Students use the Christ Our Life, God’s Gift: Reconciliation, and God’s Gift: Eucharist texts to learn about God’s care for us and the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Communion. Included in the Program are special events such as a First Communion Retreat, a Teaching Mass, regular prayer services, and important presentations. In addition, each child receives two personal booklets, entitled My Own Mass Booklet and My Own Reconciliation Booklet.
The Sacramental celebrations of Reconciliation and Communion are parish-wide liturgies and include Grade 2 students from both local school districts and Queen of the Rosary School. First Reconciliation is usually celebrated in February of each year, and First Communion is celebrated in May.
