Grade 8 Program

The Grade 8 Program at Queen of the Rosary Parish focuses on preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation.  Key objectives are:

  • Growth in Knowledge: through teaching, study, Scripture, and class discussions
  • Increase in Faith: through prayer, sharing faith, and the sacraments
  • Growth in Love: by service to others in our family, church, and community

Students use the Confirmed in the Spirit text to learn about the Holy Spirit, discipleship, faith, love, holiness, the Church, and how to be a witness to Christ in the world.  Special projects and events, such as a Confirmation Retreat, Evening of Reconciliation, Saint Report, Letter to the Pastor, and special presentations, are also included in the Grade 8 Program.  Important topics such as prayer, liturgy, Scripture, service, chastity, and ministry are integrated into the Program.  A personal journal is provided to each student.  Also, the middle school youth ministry program, called EDGE, is a new and exciting component of the Program.

The sacramental celebration of Confirmation is a parish-wide liturgy and includes Grade 8 students from both local school districts and Queen of the Rosary School.  Confirmation is usually celebrated in April of each year.
