All too often when the term "marriage enrichment" is mentioned, the first reaction is that there is a marriage in trouble. Nothing could be further from the truth. A marriage is a living, growing and flourishing entity. It needs to be fed and provided with care. If we were to provide only food for our bodies, at some point, it would succumb to illness.
A marriage must be more than just a couple living together. If that is all it is, it will not survive. A marriage needs nourishment and loving care. What could be a better nourishment than providing the union with what brought them together in the first place?
When a couple was first attracted to each other, they could not spend enough time together. Times apart seemed like a lifetime. Although they may never be able to capture that same feeling, they can experience the same closeness that drew them together. They spent time together; they spoke to each other in a caring manner; they displayed and enjoyed a sense of humor.
Spending time together at home is fine, but why not liven it up a little?
Queen of the Rosary has offered evenings for married couples. In the past, couples have enjoyed "Date Night @ QR" where they had time to reflect on their life together, as well as socializing with fellow parishioners. "Table For Two" was an evening where couples enjoyed a four course dinner served at their own table for two. The evening was designed to allow couples to enjoy each other's company without the conflicts of every day life. Future evenings will be advertised in the church bulletin.
